About The Friendly City Podcast Network

Information for Publishers & Authors

In April 2023, Friendly City Books launched The Friendly City Books Podcast Network with the goal of fostering conversations about books and connecting authors with our community of readers.

We update our podcast with new episodes every week. Author interviews are our most popular episodes, and we attempt to schedule 2 to 4 interviews each month.

Author interviews serve two important purposes for our market: They help promote sales of the featured books, and they are an essential part of our community outreach. Author interviews on the Friendly City Books Podcast Network are supported by our nonprofit, The Friendly City Books Community Connection, a special project of the CREATE Foundation. The Friendly City Books Community Connection works to promote literacy and literary culture in Columbus, MS, and the surrounding areas.

We recognize that Columbus, MS, is off-the-beaten-path for traditional book tours. By providing authors with the opportunity for remote podcasts, we hope to work with authors who would not otherwise be able to connect with our customers and bring new and diverse voices to our community.

We have audio and video capacities for our remote podcasts, allowing us to post them on our podcast channel, and on the Friendly City Books YouTube channel. We hope that by doing this, we can also provide authors and publishers with valuable marketing content for publicity initiatives. We also record in-person author interviews whenever authors visit Columbus for book events to extend their reach.

Our staff-led recurring podcast series include Friendly City Bestsellers, FCB TBR, Listen Up!, Why We Love, Hot Possum Horror, and Maasholes (The Sarah J. Maas podcast). Each of these series feature our favorite books, bestselling books, and books we’re excited to promote and read. These episodes have directly contributed to increased sales and preorders for the titles we have highlighted.

We also have a rotating display in our front window with physical copies of the books discussed on the podcast each week.

We are seeking co-op support for these episodes and can provide information about the titles discussed in each show.
