Natchez to Netflix: Notes from our New HQ

Dear friends,

Hello from our new bookstore! We've been in our new space at 109 5th Street North for a little over a month now, and we are really loving it. Thank you to everyone who's come by to shop and wish us well.

We're especially honored because Main Street Columbus presented us with the Service Award for Economic Vitality last week. And we just had a fun visit with our old friends, authors Catherine Pierce and Michael Kardos. Photos down below. :)

April will continue to be a huge month for us, and we hope you can join us for one of our upcoming events!

Tomorrow, April 14, we are hosting a screening of Natchez documentary and a discussion panel - 5:30 pm at MUW Fant Library GPG Room

The award-winning documentary Natchez explores the complex history and memory of the Mississippi town at a crossroads with its past and its future. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring filmmakers Suzannah Hebert and Darcy McKinnon, Tracy “Rev” Collins from the film, and local community leaders Laverne Greene-Leach and Chuck Yarborough.

To continue the conversation, Fant Library is holding a virtual book talk with Richard Grant, author of The Deepest South of All, on Wednesday, April 22.

Saturday, April 25 is National Independent Bookstore Day!

It's the best day of the year! We’ll have fun surprises, exclusive merch like the annual IBD tote bag, and the Libro.fm Golden Ticket. It's all for one day only, so don't miss it - 10:00 am-4:00 pm at Friendly City Books!

Wednesday, April 29, meet the author of The Last Kids on Earth!

Max Brallier, the #1 bestselling author of The Last Kids on Earth graphic novels that inspired the Netflix show, will be visiting the Golden Triangle the day after his newest book comes out! Join us on Wednesday, April 29 for afterschool events in Columbus and Starkville to celebrate the release of The Last Comics on Earth: Across the Doodleverse.

Hit us up at the bookstore for copies of Catherine Pierce and Michael Kardos' new books or order them online at Bookshop.org.

Happy reading,

Emily

P.S. Here are a couple pictures of the new bookstore, along with a happy moment from the past week.
